The workshop I’m giving on handstitching, embroidery and the making of a felt clutch is drawing near! In anticipation, here’s sharing with you a quick tutorial on how to do a simple chain stitch.
Chain stitches are mighty useful ones – use them to create much fancier stitches than plain straight stitches, without much fuss! So here goes:
- Stick your needle upwards out of the fabric, hiding your knot underneath on the “ugly side”.
- Stick your needle in (close to where you came out earlier), and out again in the direction that your chain stitch is heading. Pull the needle out over the thread.
- Repeat and you’ll have a beautiful chain stitch!
